Grand Bazaar, Istanbul, Turkey

Each week we will be putting a spotlight on different Middle Eastern countries and landmarks to feature and highlight the region’s culture! This week we are focusing on the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, Turkey 🇹🇷
The Grand Bazaar is thought to be one of the first shopping malls in the world. Established in 1455, it boasts traditional Turkish architecture and sells all sorts of goods in its shops and restaurants.
Today, the bazaar is one of the world’s most popular tourist attractions where visitors can experience the beauty of the Middle East in person.

Grad Engineering Programs Get Together with MECP

We had a great time getting to know UConn grad engineers! We got to meet so many people from so many different Middle Eastern countries! Everyone had a fun time eating donuts, drinking coffee, doing crafts, and making new friends. Stay tuned for more events like this in the future 🤩

Nowruz 2023

Nowruz (means new day) is the celebration of love, life and joy. It marks the end of an old year and the beginning of a new one and is celebrated on the day of the astronomical vernal equinox. Nowruz is a rite dating back to at least the 6th century BCE, marking the new year and ushering in spring.

We celebrated Nowruz with the UConn community on March 20! Such a beautiful and great event it was! Thank you all who showed up and celebrated the Iranian new year with us.
